Culturally Responsive Counseling

Navigating life at the intersection of multiple identities can be both enriching and challenging. Individuals from Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities often face unique stressors related to discrimination, cultural expectations, intergenerational trauma, and systemic inequities. I provide a culturally affirming and trauma-informed space where clients can explore these experiences, strengthen their sense of identity, and develop healthy coping strategies that support long-term emotional well-being.

As a first-generation African immigrant, I am especially passionate about supporting immigrants, children of immigrants, and multicultural individuals. The immigration journey often involves navigating cultural transitions, family expectations, identity development, acculturation stress, grief and loss, and the challenge of balancing multiple cultural worlds. My goal is to help clients honor their cultural values while building the skills and confidence needed to thrive in their personal, academic, and professional lives.

I am committed to creating a therapeutic environment where clients feel seen, understood, and empowered to heal, grow, and embrace their authentic selves.

Relationships & Family Dynamics

Relationships have the power to shape how we see ourselves, connect with others, and navigate the world. Whether you are struggling with family conflict, unhealthy relationship patterns, caregiving responsibilities, or difficulties in friendships and romantic relationships, therapy can help you gain insight, strengthen communication, and build healthier connections.

Many of the ways we relate to others are influenced by our family experiences, cultural values, and learned patterns. Together, we will explore these influences, identify barriers to healthy relationships, and develop practical strategies that promote emotional well-being, self-awareness, and meaningful connection.

I support clients in:

  • Setting and maintaining healthy boundaries

  • Understanding their role within the family system

  • Breaking unhealthy generational and relational patterns

  • Navigating caregiving responsibilities and caregiver burnout

  • Improving communication and conflict-resolution skills

  • Building and maintaining healthy friendships

  • Navigating dating, romantic relationships, and attachment concerns

  • Strengthening self-esteem and relationship confidence

  • Managing family expectations and cultural pressures

Faith-Based Counseling

There is no greater love than to be fully known and fully loved. In Psalm 139:1, David writes, “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.” Likewise, in Psalm 139:23–24, he prays, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” These verses remind us that self-reflection and spiritual growth begin with inviting God to examine our hearts and guide us toward healing, wisdom, and transformation.

I believe that as you grow in your understanding of God's character and His love for you, He reveals more of His purpose and design for your life. Faith-Based Counseling provides a space to explore life's challenges through both a biblical and clinical lens, helping you deepen your relationship with God while developing practical tools for emotional and mental well-being.

Whether you are experiencing anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, grief, life transitions, or simply seeking spiritual growth, I am here to walk alongside you. My goal is to help you gain clarity, strengthen your faith, and move toward a more authentic, peaceful, and purpose-filled life through personalized care that integrates evidence-based counseling with Christian principles.
